Teachers Association to meet Thiruvalluvar University VC

Various college teachers associations across the State and elsewhere have taken an initiative to break the stand off between the terminated temporary employees of the Thiruvalluvar University and the university administration.
Professor S Kumar, joint secretary of the Association of University Teachers (Tamil Nadu) in a statement said the 64 Thiruvalluvar University employees, who were on indefinite strike from October 21, 2013, were terminated on October 30, by the registrar of the university, even as the dispute was pending before the labour officer-I, Vellore. As a mark of expressing solidarity to the terminated employees, the college teachers unions had taken an initiative to break the dead lock in this regard, he added.
Kumar said the office bearers of the All India Federation of College Teachers Organisations, represented by Dr P Jayagandhi, professor Chandrasekar (president of AUT) and professor Tamilmani (president of Tamil Nadu Government College Teachers Association) had planned to meet the vice-chancellor of the Thiruvalluvar University on Tuesday at 3 pm regarding the issue.
